It's been a month, but the world is still hooked to Netflix and the grandeur that the streaming giant offered on May 1, thanks to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The foray of the master filmmaker into the streaming world with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has turned out to be epic because the world has surrendered to the opulence of the story and everything else that stands in between the two in the magnum opus show. Upon its release, the show, led by Manisha Koirala and a list of strong female actors, managed to climb to the top of every streaming list, and the viewership that the streamer enjoyed was insane. But now, what if we tell you that the tale of Heeramandi continues? Netflix has just confirmed the second season of the magnum opus.
Heeramandi Season 2 Confirmed
Yes, you read that right. According to a Variety report, Netflix has now confirmed the second season of Heeramandi, and the franchise with Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the helm continues. Even the maverick filmmaker spoke to the portal, and the announcement was made in Mumbai at an event on Carter Road, where 100 dancers dressed in Heeramandi-inspired costumes danced to the songs from the show. By the end of the performance, they revealed the announcement that the show had been renewed for a second season. Read on to know more.
Talking to the publication about Heeramandi season 2, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “It takes a lot to make a series. This one has taken a lot. After Gangubai [Berlinale title Gangubai Kathiawadi] was released in February 2022, from that to now every single day I have worked without a break. So the responsibility is huge on the series.”
Talking about the storyline of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar season 2, he added, “In Heeramandi 2, the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition, and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes.”
