Richa Chadha is currently gearing up for the release of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actress will be seen playing the role of a courtesan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series. For her character Lajjo, Richa sought inspiration from Meena Kumari's character in Pakeezah. Recently, when the screening of Heeramandi was held, Richa received the biggest validation for her performance in the series. And it came from veteran actress Rekha.
How did Rekha react to Richa Chadha's performance in Heeramandi?
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Richa Chadha was asked what Rekha had to say about the actress' performance in Heeramandi. To this, the actress revealed, "Man, it was the stuff of magic! I remember the screening ended and we just hugged and kind of wept because like I said my character is a tragic one. I could not control my tears and neither could see and to have appreciation from a legend like her gave me all the validation I needed."
The actress further recalled the moment the veteran actress touched her baby bump. Richa said Rekha could feel her baby bump as she is currently in the 7th month of her pregnancy. The senior actress initially asked the Heeramandi actress if she could touch her baby bump. To this, Richa was delighted about the fact that a legend blessed her offspring.
"So generous, so sweet and so kind! The words of praise that she showered not just on me but on everyone!," she added. The actress added that Rekha holds the highest regard for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the creator of Heeramandi. Richa also mentioned that it was a blessing to have the veteran actress at the special screening and she felt overwhelmed and speechless.

Meanwhile, the star cast of Heeramandi also includes Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal and Sonakshi Sinha. Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman and Fardeen Khan are also internal parts of the series. The web show will drop on May 1 on Netflix.
