Heeramandi OTT release date - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web-series is releasing on THIS date on Netflix

After years of waiting with immense excitement, Heeramandi is finally here. It was already announced that Heeramandi will be making its debut on Netflix, and now the release date has been announced. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is finally making his web-series debut with the historical drama. The first look was dropped in February, and within a few minutes, it took the internet by storm, with fans anticipating numerous possibilities for the storyline.

When to watch Heeramandi

Get ready to be swept away by passion, intrigue, and Bhansali's signature opulence, as Heeramandi is finally coming soon on May 1, 2024, only on Netflix. Heeramandi's first-look has only ignited a frenzy, but also highly captivated several Bollywood A-listers. For example, Alia Bhatt showered her excitement on Instagram, stating the web-series “Pure magic”.

Heeramandi story

Heeramandi tells the historical story about a special area, which is now located in Lahore, Pakistan. It's inside the old city walls, close to a big gate called Taxali Gate and south of a famous mosque named Badshahi Mosque. Back in the Mughal times, Heeramandi was a lively place full of singing, dancing, and talented women called tawaifs. But later, when the British took over, Heeramandi slowly changed and became a place known for prostitution.

What to expect from Heeramandi?

The first-look of Heeramandi exhibited some tragic stories of love and betrayal in the lives of women who worked as dancers and entertainers in India when the country was under British rule. The video takes us to a beautiful castle called Heeramandi, and introduces us to these women (played by Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh), and the people who came to cherish them. The story also happens during a very important time in India's history, when people were fighting for freedom from British rule.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced about Heeramandi at the beginning of 2023, but due to some production issues, the web-series got delayed, and was almost forgotten. Although netizens seem to remember the magnum-opus, as some of them flooded showing their eagerness to know the release date.
