Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a perfectionist, so he will likely be able to accomplish whatever he sets his mind to. While the director is shooting Heeramandi in Mumbai, the monsoon threatens to interrupt production. It has been reported that Bhansali is rushing to finish filming his magnum opus at Film City in Goregaon before the June monsoons wash away the city. The series stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal. The series, which centres on courtesans in India before independence, reportedly has roughly two months of filming left.
Talking about the same, a source told Mid Day that instead of delegating tasks to his co-directors, such as Mitakshara Kumar, as he did towards the end of last year, Bhansali has been present on set every day for the past two weeks. He's in charge of everything from the set design to the props to the acting. The filmmaker is dead set on crossing the finish line before the rain starts.
His first venture into the realm of digital entertainment is this Netflix series. The third and final schedule began in March and will run at full pace until the end of June. The second schedule began in late 2022 and continued into early this year. Due to his meticulous temperament, Bhansali has prepared a backup plan. To protect his expensive set, the production has ordered the members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to erect scaffolding in the first week of June.
All exterior shots are done, and now we can move on to filming interior scenes. Every day, the crew works tirelessly to film various scenarios.
The lives of courtesans in pre-Independence India are the subject of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's majesty and unique style in the forthcoming Netflix series.
