Medical dramas have always been an underexplored genre in Tamil. Filling that void, Disney+ Hotstar is all set to bring forth the most exciting medical drama web series for Tamil cinephiles. Heart Beat, directed by Deepak Sundarrajan, will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day.
Along with the announcement of its release date, the streaming platform had also released a promo video featuring actress Deepa Balu playing the role of a new resident doctor at RK Multi-speciality hospital. Her character is called Reena, and she goes on to describe how her life is divided into four chambers just like our heart. The opening scene of the promo showcases Reena being late on her first day of work and is handed her new identity card. She later takes us around the busy work at the hospital. As she navigates through her new workplace, she also faces a few awkward situations due to lack of experience, but also shows us how she celebrates life despite her work hurdles.
The series looks like a jovial take on what goes on behind the scenes at a hospital and how the staff explore their profession and build a community. The new promo also promises that the series caters to audiences who wish to binge on to a light-hearted medico-drama with romance, comedy and a lot more!
The fun and entertaining promo hints at a dramedy, unlike the usual medical dramas we have seen before. The promo looks promising and hints at a fun-filled medico experience that will be delivered by the new ‘doctors’ of the block!
Malayalam actress Anumol, who will be playing the role of Dr. Radhi in the web series, is seen to be essaying a no-nonsense doctor who puts all the staff of the hospital in their place. Her character appears to be that of a senior doctor who will be training the newly joined residents at the hospital.
Apart from Anumol and Deepa Balu, the Deepak Sundarrajan directorial will feature actors including Charukesh, RG Ram, Sarvhaa, Padinekumar, Guru Lakshman and Jayarao CH in key roles.
