Thangalaan, starring actor Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role, is one of the most expected films in Tamil this year. Hyping up the expectations further, the makers of the film released the first-look poster of actor Parvathy Thiruvothu, who will be playing the role of Gangamma in the film, on the occasion of the actor’s birthday on Sunday.
Parvathy is a sought-after performer, who has delivered some strong characters during her acting career. The actor is set to team up with filmmaker Pa Ranjith for the upcoming film Thangalaan. Wishing her a happy birthday on Sunday, the makers unveiled her character Gangamma from the film. The poster shows Parvathy clad in a saree, draped in rural style, as she holds a stick and looks at a bonfire.

Thangalaan also stars Vikram in the lead role, along with Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, British actor Daniel Caltagirone, and others. The film is backed by Studio Green and Neelam Productions. A release date for the film is yet to be announced. However, Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Thangalaan.
A period-action drama, Thangalaan is set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields and is said to talk about the origins of the place. It marks the first time Ranjith will be working with Vikram, Parvathy and Malavika. Thangalaan will release in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Tamil Praba has co-written the film, with GV Prakash scoring the music, The film is shot by cinematographer Kishor Kumar and Selva RK has worked on the edits.
Last year, the producers announced that Thangalaan would hit the screens worldwide on January 26, 2024. They also kicked off promotions with a teaser launch, following the cast and crew interactions with the press. However, the film's post-production hit a snag, forcing the producers to delay its release. And the upcoming elections have added to its delay.
