Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the standalone sequel to the 2007 film of the same name, helmed by Priyadarshan. Interestingly, the Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer, psychological thriller comedy is the Hindi remake of the blockbuster Malayalam film Manichitratazhu, which was released in 1993. Now, Bazmee, during a recent media group interaction, revealed that he had watched the Fazil directed film and called it one of the most amazing films ever.

When Kiara Advani was asked if she had watched Manichitratazhu, the actor revealed, "I haven't seen the original Malayalam film. I've seen bits and pieces of it, which I wanted to watch for various reasons. I believe it's incredible and that's obviously why they made the first part, Bhool Bhulaiyaa."

Soon after that, she went on to say that she watched the song Oru Murai Vanthu, performed beautifully by Shobana, as a reference point for her role as alter ego Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

At the 41st National Film Awards, Manichitratazhu won two awards: Shobana for Best Actress and Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Kiara was asked if comedy is the only genre that can get families together at the theatre. The actor replied, "Um, I don't think comedy is the only answer, but it balances the spook factor out. The reason Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 works for me as a family entertainer is because if you see the trailer, it's about an entire family, so you have a big joint family. It's got everything-relationships, romance, comedy, thrills, and suspense."

She added, "So it's that engaging watch. I say that because when I was reading the script, it was an engaging read. I feel for a family entertainer. It's fun when you're watching a film when you kind of identify with everyone in the family, and you can see their equations and relationships in a film. And comedy, always. I mean, there's no better medicine than laughter, and it's the hardest thing to do. It's the hardest genre that doesn't get enough credit."

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 features Kartik Aaryan in the lead role and also Tabu.
