Harry Potter is perhaps one of the most famed franchises in the world and has also produced eight movies that are still adored to this day. Emma Watson played the role of Hermione Granger, one of the titular wizard’s best friends.

The actor has now revealed that she almost quit her role as the witch in the Harry Potter franchise. Talking in the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, David Yates who helmed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix said that Watson had wrestled with the idea of not returning.

Acknowledging this, Watson said, “I can see that. At times, I was lonely, I think I was scared, I don't know if you ever felt like it got to a tipping point when you were like... 'This is kind of forever now'."

She also added that the fame was reaching her and that she did not need anybody else to convince her to see it through and that the fans always wanted her to succeed and genuinely had each other's back.

Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley also added to this point, saying that he also felt what his co-star felt, and used to think about what lies ahead if he did call it quits one day.

Watson, who started her acting career with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001, was last seen in Greta Gerwig’s period drama Little Women, where she played Margaret "Meg" March.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which celebrates the anniversary of the fan-favourite franchise, features a number of the cast and crew from the movie series which includes Watson, Grint, Daniel Radcliff, Tom Felton and more.

The reunion show is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
