Anniyan
This psychological thriller, which hit screens in 2005, starred Vikram in the lead , along with Sada, Prakash Raj, Vivek, Nedumudi Venu, Kalabhavan Mani and Nassar. The plot revolves around Ambi (Vikram), a righteous lawyer who becomes frustrated with the corruption, social apathy and public negligence. As he suffers from multiple personality disorder, he develops two personalities, a flirtatious Remo and the vigilante Anniyan, who punishes wrongdoers. The film was released in Telugu as Aparichithudu and Hindi as Aparichit.
Boys
This coming-of-age musical flick revolves around six youngsters and their journey through adolescence. Though the film garnered controversy for many bold scenes, it soon attained the status of a cult classic. The film, which starred Siddharth, Genelia, Thaman, Bharath, Nakkhul and Manikandan, also addressed issues such as generation gap and the education system. One of the highlights of Boys was the music by AR Rahman and the album went on to become a massive hit.
Kadhalan
Kadhalan brought together Prabhu Deva and Nagma for the first time on screen. The highlight of Kadhalan was music by AR Rahman, which also contributed to the film's astounding success. The plot revolves around Prabhu (Prabhu Deva), who falls in love with a student named Shruthi (Nagma), who is the daughter of the governor of the state. The film, which was bankrolled by KT Kunjumon and also starred Vadivelu, Raghuvaran, Girish Karnad, and SP Balasubrahmanyam.
Gentleman
Vigilante drama Gentleman marked the debut of the filmmaker Shankar. The action heist film, which recently clocked 30 years, starred Arjun, Madhu, Subhashri, MN Nambiar, Manorama, Goundamani, Senthil, Charan Raj and Rajan P Dev to name a few. The plot revolves around Kicha (Arjun) who moonlights as a thief and helps the poor with their education. The film's soundtrack by AR Rahman upped the ante.
