Happy Birthday Karthi: Here are five films you can stream right now

Actor Karthi celebrates his birthday today (May 25). Known for versatile body of work and playing different roles from the start of his career, Karthi’s choices have brought different dimensions into mainstream commercial cinema. From playing a rural ruffian in Paruthiveeran, to a convict on parole in Kaithi, the actor has delivered some iconic films in the past. Here are some of them that you can stream.

Sardar - Aha

Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar is a spy action thriller starring Karthi in dual roles. The film revolves around a spy who has been in exile who returns in order to stop the launch of a hazardous water company. The film also stars Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Viajayan, Laila, Chunky Pandey, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu and Balaji Sakthivel, among others. The makers announced that a sequel for Sardar is in the making, which will feature Karthi in the lead role.

Madras – Disney+ Hotstar

Madras is a political action drama set in the northern suburbs of Chennai. The film is directed by Pa Ranjith and also stars Catherine Tresa, Kalaiyarasan, Charles Vinoth, Riythvika, VIS Jayapalan, Poster Nandakumar and Mime Gopi. Madras revolves around a wall and two parties who claim it as theirs as they assume the rights to determine what goes on the wall. The film marked Ranjith's second directorial after Attakathi.

Paiyaa - Aha

Paiyaa is a 2010 Tamil film directed by Lingusamy and features Karthi and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The action drama us about a carefree young man who incidentally get asked by a girl to drop her in Mumbai from Bangalore. Paiyaa became a commercial success and has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Aayirathil Oruvan - SunNXT

Aayirathil Oruvan is an action adventure film directed by Selvaraghavan. The film stars Karthi, Reema Sen, Andrea Jeremiah, Parthiban and others. The film is about a group of archaeologists who take up the mission to find out the whereabouts of a lost missing archaeologist and stumble upon the lost Chola clan. While the film did not see a box office success, it eventually achieved a cult status. A sequel was also announced for Aayirathil Oruvan with Dhanush and Selvaraghavan. However, there has been no update about it so far.

Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru – Aha

Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru is an action thriller in which Karthi plays a cop. Directed by H Vinoth, the film is based on Operation Bawaria incidents in which the Tamil Nadu police nabbed a notorious dacoit group. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, Bose Venkat and others.
