The Ponniyin Selvan actor is ringing in his 46th birthday today and wishes are pouring in from across the quarters. In the meantime, OTTPlay has a compiled a list of Karthi films that you cannot afford to miss on Sun NXT.
Thozha
This comedy drama, helmed by Varisu director Vamsi Paidipally, is a remake of the French film, The Intouchables. Karthi plays a carefree Seenu, a convict out on parole. When is hired as a caretaker by quadriplegic multi-billionaire Vikram they learn a lot from each other. Karthi won many hearts and brought a smile to many faces with his effortless performance as Seenu.
Komban
In this rural entertainer directed by M Muthaiya, Karthi plays a good-hearted but angry young man named Kombaiah Pandian, who tries to give up his violent ways after his marriage runs into trouble. Karthi's fantastic performance in the film, reminded many of his debut film, Paruthiveeran, in which he portrayed a rustic, rural character.
Aayirathil Oruvan
He might have played the lovable Chola spy and commander in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan franchise recently, but long before that, Karthi played a Chola descendent in director Selvaraghavan's action adventure film. The plot is loosely inspired by the decline of the Chola dynasty after the rise of the Pandya dynasty and revolves around a few archaeologists, who are in search of the existence of the prince of the Chola dynasty.
Saguni
This political comedy directed by Shankar Dayal has Karthi as Kamalakannan, who is mistaken for a rich man by auto driver Rajini Appadurai ( Santhanam). The comedy scenes between the duo, who fondly call each other Kamal and Rajini in the film, are a laugh riot. Karthi's scenes with Radikaa Sarathkumar , too, make for a fun watch.
Alex Pandian
After the hit combination in Saguni, the duo once again teamed up for an action comedy, helmed by Suraj. Karthi and Santhanam combination scenes are once again, a showstealer. The film's title is inspired by Rajinikanth's character in Moondru Mugam. The film was a successful commercial potboiler, with Anusha Shetty playing the lead and Devi Sri Prasad scoring the music.
