All hell will break loose — this is the biggest takeaway from the trailer of Pushpa: The Rule , starring Telugu superstar Allu Arjun in the lead role. The trailer was released on Friday evening to coincide with Arjun's 41st birthday celebrations today. Writer-director Sukumar seems to have cranked up the intensity of the action drama in the sequel, which will show an all-out war of egos and fists between Pushpa and his arch nemesis Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil).
To jog your memory, Pushpa: The Rise ended with Pushpa humiliating megalomanic cop Bhanwar. Pushpa shatters Bhanwar's illusion of power by stripping him down to his undergarments. And that set the stage for a major clash of egos in the second part.
Pushpa is a notorious red sandalwood smuggler. Even though he comes from the lowest stratum of society, he raises through the ranks of a crime syndicate with the help of his sheer grit and unpromising will to succeed at any cost. He soon becomes the head of the syndicate, and just when he thought that he has outmanoeuvred the limitations imposed on him by society, Bhanwar comes along and gives Pushpa a reality check.
For both, Pushpa and Bhanwar, the rivalry is no longer just business. Their enmity has crossed over to the realm of personal. And both are ready to die or kill, but never yield. The teaser shows us just that.
Judging from the teaser, it seems Bhanwar mobilises the state's entire police force to crush the spirit of Pushpa. But, the problem is Pushpa —Thaggede Le. Pushpa is known for not turning his back on his adversaries. While Bhanwar has all the state machinery at his disposal, Pushpa has the loyalty and undying admiration of the public. And these variables create a highly combustible environment for an explosive state power vs public will showdown.
And if you have already seen the new character look of Pushpa , in which Allu Arjun is dressed in drag, you know Sukumar has more to offer than a savage fight to the finish. The colourful poster suggests that Sukumar has also intensified his social commentary. And it won't be wrong to assume that Pushpa embraces his social and political identity in all its colour and glory, instead of running away from it.
