Three years ago, actors Pruthvi Ambaar and Manvita Kamath had worked on a psychological thriller called Happily Married, which followed a much-in-love couple as their relationship swiftly crumbles. Directed by Arunkumar M and Sabu Aloysius, the film is the Kannada remake of the 2020 Malayalam thriller Love, which Shine Tom Chacko and Rajisha Vijayan in the lead. Happily Married is set to release on select OTT platforms on September 28, ahead of which the team released a trailer.

In the trailer, Pruthvi and Manvita are a young couple that begins to have differences of opinions, which, over time turns to hostility and violence against each other. What will become of their relationship after a bunch of characters enter their lives? The film also stars Dharmanna Kadur and Shreejith Ravi, with the latter making his Kannada movie debut with Happily Married.

Happily Married is the second directorial venture of the director duo, after Life is Beautiful, which is yet to release. Life is Beautiful also stars Pruthvi in the lead, along with Priyanka Upendra.

In the original film, directed by Khalid Rahman, Shine as Anoop and Rajisha as Deepthi, get into a fight, which has a violent outcome. Soon after, Anoop begins to have visitors, who engage with him in conversations about his life and his relationship with Deepthi. The film has been remade in Tamil too, with the Kannada version coming to audiences this week.

Pruthvi Ambaar, who was last seen in Matsyagandha and For Regn, both of which released on the same day, is looking at having two films out on OTT on the same day. Matsyagandha, which was supposed to drop on OTT on September 20, had to be pushed ahead owing to piracy fears and will now release on September 27. Happily Married will begin streaming a day later.
