Amidst reports of HanuMan being denied enough theatres in Telugu states on January 12 owing to a clash with Guntur Kaaram, the team is more or less accepting the fact that they might fall short of expected screen count. While Guntur Kaaram team organises the pre-release event in Guntur today, the cast and crew of Hanuman are on a city-hopping spree for their promotional tour.
Smartly countering the box office tussle with Guntur Kaaram, the makers of HanuMan are organising early premieres in and around Hyderabad, treading the path adopted by several small/medium budget Telugu films last year. The idea is a super hit already, with tickets getting sold out in minutes. New screens for the film are being added every hour, adhering to viewers’ demands.
The viewer interest for HanuMan on the ticketing platform Book My Show is equally impressive with over 3 lakh ‘interests’. Over 20 theatres in Hyderabad are screening at least two shows of the mythological fantasy (last checked at 8 pm). The strategy only suggests the team’s confidence on their film and if all goes well with the premieres, they could have an early advantage leading to January 12.
Veterans in the fraternity have reiterated that though all Sankranthi releases may get good openings, it’s crucial for the film’s buzz to last beyond the festive weekend and attract crowds. No major releases have been announced till the end of January and all the Sankranthi films have at least three weeks to prove their worth.
After the extensive promotions, all eyes will also be on HanuMan’s performance in the Hindi market. Prasanth Varma has directed the fantasy film headlined by Teja Sajja, Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vinay Rai. Shivendra Dasaradhi, the film’s cinematographer, has also worked for Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga. HanuMan will be out on ZEE5 after its theatrical run.
