Halle Berry signs multi-film deal with Netflix after release of directorial debut Bruised on platform

After the premiere of her directorial debut Bruised on Netflix, Halle Berry has inked a multi-film deal with the streamer. Under the partnership, the actor-filmmaker will star and produce feature films.

This news comes right after Bruised was released on November 24 and went on to become the No 1 film in the US and No 2 globally. According to Netflix, it was streamed 47.7 million hours in its first five days of release, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

"The Netflix team has not only been collaborative and creative, but extremely passionate and a delight to work with. I am beyond grateful for the partnership and look forward to telling more stories together," said Berry in a statement.

Bruised was screened at the recent Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September this year. 

The film follows Jackie (Berry), a disgraced MMA champion, who is made to enter an underground fighting ring years later by her manager and boyfriend Desi (Adan Canto). There she's spotted by fight league promoter (Shamier Anderson) and she gets a chance to redeem her career.

But there's more to this journey than just a comeback. While on the road, she meets Manny (Danny Boyd Jr) she reconnects with her estranged son whom she had to give up.

The cast also includes Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Among Berry's upcoming projects is Moonfall, a sci-fi film directed by Roland Emmerich.
