After the massive success of Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, director Vipin Das will reunite with Basil Joseph for another comedy titled Guruvayur Ambalanadayil, which also has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. The two actors announced the title of their first venture together on January 1, and now OTTplay has exclusively learnt what the film is about.

On the movie, director Vipin says, “It’s a full-length comedy. It’s about a wedding in Guruvayur and that various incidents that ensue. The film will have the flavour of Nandanam and Nakhakshathangal in terms of how we will portray the temple and the area. The audience will get to experience and enjoy the same feeling of harmony when you are in front of Guruvayoor temple.”

Guruvayur Ambalanadayil, which will be jointly produced by Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainment, is scripted by Deepu Pradeep. Deepu had also scripted Basil’s directorial debut Kunjiramayanam.

“Both Deepu and I have been discussing the subject and writing it for some time now,” says Vipin. “The shoot will happen this year. As of now, we have only finalised Prithviraj and Basil; there are other artistes too but we will reveal that only later, once we have locked the dates.”

In his social media post, Prithviraj wrote, “This is a story that makes me smile every time I think of it since I heard it well over a year ago!” Basil wrote that he is “absolutely thrilled” to share screen space with the Kaapa actor.

The superhit film, which has Darshana Rajendran and Basil in the lead, marked his third directorial after Mudhugauv and Anthakshari, which is streaming on Sony LIV.

Talking about the reactions, the filmmaker says, “The feedback has been immense. It’s almost like a second release and there’s a huge wave of positive reactions coming our way. People outside that State are watching the film now.”

Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
