Vipin Das’ upcoming directorial venture Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil features Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph in lead roles. On the occasion of Prithviraj’s birthday (on October 16), the makers have released a monochromatic poster, featuring Prithviraj. The movie’s title poster released earlier was also in black and white. Sharing the first on his social media account, Prithviraj wrote, “This story always brings a smile to my face every time I think of it, ever since I heard it well over a year ago!”

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’s plot and cast

In a recent interview with OTTplay, Vipin revealed that his upcoming film Guruvayur Ambalanadayil is a wedding comedy, in line with popular films like Nandanam and Nakhakshathangal. The movie promises to be a hilarious entertainer, against the backdrop of a wedding. Prithviraj is expected to play a negative character in the movie, which features Nikhila Vimal and Anaswara Rajan as the female leads. Tamil actor Yogi Babu will make his Malayalam debut with Guruvayoor Amabalanadayil.

Controversy during the release of the title poster

The film’s title poster had caused controversy earlier when VHP leader Prajeesh Viswanath threatened Prithviraj and the makers. In a Facebook (now Meta) post, Prajeesh warned them to be cautious while making any film that could tarnish the image of deity Guruvayoorappan.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming projects

Prithviraj is currently directing the sequel to the 2019 movie Lucifer, titled Empuraan, starring Mohanlal. It is a big-budget film, and Prithviraj will reprise his role as Zayed Masood in the sequel. Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, in which the actor is playing a negative role, is scheduled for release on December 22 this year. He also has some portions of Vilayath Buddha to complete, as he suffered a knee injury during its shooting. Directed by Blessy, it is another highly anticipated movie of the actor, slated to hit the theatres in 2024.
