Guntur Kaaram OTT release date confirmed - here's when, where to watch Mahesh Babu's family drama

Netflix on Sunday announced the OTT release date of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's latest movie Guntur Kaaram. The movie will become available for streaming on February 9, less than one month after its initial theatrical release. 

The streaming platform confirmed that the movie will be available in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi besides its original Telugu version. 

Guntur Kaaram - the much-awaited director-actor reunion

Guntur Kaaram marked the reunion of Mahesh and director Trivikram Srinivas after a gap of more than 13 years. The actor-director duo first collaborated for Telugu cinema's cult classic Athadu (2005). The critical and commercial success of the movie elevated Mahesh's stardom in the Telugu film industry. And they both collaborated again in 2010 for Khaleja. Despite the movie garnering good reviews, it failed to strike a chord with the mass audience. However, since its release, the film's popularity has only grown among the Telugu audience. 

Expectations were high for Guntur Kaaram, and the industry was eager to see how this collaboration would be received. However, the movie's production last year faced repeated delays and unfounded rumours about a growing rift between Mahesh and Trivikram. Filmmakers had a challenging time dispelling these rumours, causing concerns among fans about the movie's fate.

Guntur Kaaram's box office performance

However, Mahesh remained firm on delivering the movie on time as promised. "We are coming to theatres next Sankranti," he said earlier. True to his word, the cast and crew successfully completed the movie in time for the festival release.

Guntur Kaaram opened in cinemas to packed houses across the world. However, the movie did not live up to the expectations of the audience. The film garnered mixed reviews and even the hard-core fans seemed to have little reason to celebrate the movie.

The mixed reviews took a toll on the movie's box office performance after the extended holiday weekend.

Besides Mahesh, Guntur Kaaram also stars Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Jayaram, Prakashraj, and Sunil.
