Earlier this week, when Raj & DK, the makers of the upcoming Netflix show Guns & Gulaabs posted the trailer links to the dubbed versions, netizens were quick to point out that while there was Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil audio, Kannada was missing from the list and brought it to their attention immediately.
To the post about the dubbed versions of the trailer, some responded asking Kannada audiences to ignore the show, just as the makers had ignored a Kannada version. Another quickly chimed in, that since they've dubbed to other south language, the question is why Kannada is not on the list. Kannadigas, he said, want #gunsAndGulaabs in their language and that if they don't dub it, audiences will not not be interested to watch the series.”

Several netizens wondered why there was an omission, considering that the Kannada dubbing quality of their previous show Farzi was top-notch, with actor Pruthvi Ambaar providing the voice-over for Shahid Kapoor’s character. Raj & DK were quick to respond to the calls for the show to be made available in Kannada as well. The makers assured them that they’d checked in with the streamer and that a Kannada version is in the works. However, there was no assurance that this will be available on August 18, when Guns & Gulaabs begins streaming on Netflix.

A lot of appreciation came their way then, with some requesting the show runners to make their earlier Family Man also available in Kannada. There were also questions if actor Gulshan Devaiah, who speaks fluent Kannada would dub for his character. Most importantly, though, considering that Netflix’s largest chunk of subscribers comes from Bengaluru, the demand was that going forward, all popular titles be made available with Kannada audio.
Guns & Gulaabs stars Dulquer Salmaan, Gulshan Devaiah, Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, Ashmit Kunder, (late) Satish Kaushik, among others.
