Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban has been game for taking up movies that push him outside his comfort zone. When he signed Ezra filmmaker Jay K’s Grrr, a slice-of-life comedy, one would, however, think that it falls under the genre of movies that he is most comfortable in. But that was hardly the cast, considering the actor had to shoot with a lion for the last few sequences of the movie.
The film’s producer Shaji Natesan tells us that the team wrapped up the shoot of the film, which also has Suraj Venjaramoodu, Shruti Ramachandran, Rajesh Madhavan, Anagha and Shobi Thilakan as part of its cast, with its final schedule in South Africa.
“We had used animatronics for most of the scenes featuring animals. But for the scenes in South Africa, we had shot with a real lion, which had featured in some Hollywood movies as well,” says the producer. “It was a risky venture, especially with Chackochan shooting with the lion.”
The team had returned to Kerala last week, after spending about 10 days in South Africa to shoot the portions. Grrr, which is a comedy that talks about inter-personal relationships, is set to hit theatres this year.
Meanwhile, Kunchacko is riding high on the success of the multi-starrer 2018, in which he played the role of a land revenue department official. The movie, which also has Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Narain and Vineeth Sreenivasan, became the fastest Malayalam film to gross Rs 100 crore in worldwide box office earnings and is on track to break the record of being the industry’s highest grosser.
The actor is also gearing up for the release of his next film titled Padmini, which is a comedy helmed by Senna Hegde. The movie also has Madonna Sebastian and Aparna Balamurali as part of its cast.
