Veteran actor Govind Namdev - who is known for his performance in several notable films like Saudagar, Bandit Queen, Virasat, Satya, Kachche Dhaage, Mast, Thakshak, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Pukar, Raju Chacha, Sarfarosh, Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon and Johnny Gaddaar - recently appeared in a pivotal role in crime thriller Aazam, written and directed by Shravan Tiwari.
Starring Jimmy Shergill, Abhimanyu Singh, Indraneil Sengupta and Raza Murad, the movie chronicles the events of one fateful night in Mumbai that impacts the underworld, the political system as well as the city’s police force. Described as an ‘intense tale of suspense, betrayal and power struggles’, the plot focuses on how one night can turn everything upside down and challenge the status quo.
Speaking about his character - named Pratab Shetty - in the film, Govind says, “The underworld is abuzz with activities as the current ruler is on their way out and a successor needs to be chosen. This has created a stir among the syndicates, with many vying for the position of power. As one of these syndicates, I am eager to make my son the leader. With my ambition and drive, I plot a plan to kill some people and make my son the ruler, who can rise above all others and take control of this dark realm. Pratab is an intriguing character. There are many layers to the character, and his presence changes the course of the story.”
According to the actor, being part of this project was an incredible experience. Praising the other cast members on the set, Govind said, “Their positive attitude allowed me to bring out my best in front of the camera. It was a pleasure to collaborate with such a talented team and I am grateful for the opportunity.”
