Actor Gopichand's Kabaddi-themed sports drama Seetimaarr, directed by Sampath Nandi, will release in theatres on September 3. The film, featuring Tamannaah Bhatia and Digangana Suryavanshi as the female leads, was to release in April 2021 before the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic played spoilsport. This announcement also puts an end to the rumours that emerged surrounding the film's possible direct-to-OTT release a few weeks ago. Srinivasaa Chitturi has produced the film under Srinivasaa Silver Screen, also the makers of U Turn and Ram Pothineni's untitled film with Lingusamy.
Gopichand (in the role of Karthik Subramanyam) and Tamannaah Bhatia (cast as Jwala Reddy) are pitted against each other in the film, where they play rival coaches to the women's team from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana respectively. A song based on Tamannaah's character in Seetimaarr, Jwala Reddy, composed by Mani Sharma, topped the music charts recently. The title song and another dance number named Pepsi Aunty too garnered many hits on YouTube and other music streaming platforms.
Digangana plays the role of a television journalist and Bhumika has essayed the part of Gopichand's on-screen sister in the commercial entertainer with an interesting mix of sports, romance, action and drama. Well-known actor Rahman is part of the supporting cast. Ace cinematographer S Soundar Rajan has cranked the camera for the film. Sun Network has grabbed the satellite (Gemini TV) and post-theatrical streaming rights (SunNXT).
Seetimaar's lead actor is working on Maruthi's Bomma Blockbuster and an untitled film with Sriwass as well. Tamannaah, after Seetimaarr, will be seen in Nithiin-starrer Maestro, which releases directly on Disney+ Hotstar.
