Both director Sreenu Vaitla and actor Gopichand have enjoyed an impressive run in Telugu cinema, though their films haven’t struck gold at the box office lately. The actor-director duo is now joining hands for Gopichand 32, an action entertainer produced by Venu Donepudi under Chitralayam Studios. The female lead of the project hasn’t been announced yet.
After an initial schedule in Milan, the filming of the actioner has now resumed at Goa, the team confirmed today. Expressing his happiness at the commencement of a new schedule, Sreenu Vaitla offered a glimpse of the set ambience through a special video and added, ‘Filming in Goa with my amazing crew.’ The makers are currently working on a high-voltage action sequence.
A key scene featuring a few henchmen and a child artiste are being filmed in a scenic location in Goa, from what we could decode in the glimpse. Gopichand is expected to join the shoot soon. Cinematographer K V Guhan, veteran actor Benarajee, the action choreographer and the crew engage in intense discussions in the video. Recent reports suggest that Gopichand 32 is titled Viswam.
The film marks Sreenu Vaitla’s return to Telugu cinema after 5 years, he had last directed Ravi Teja’s redemption saga Amar Akbar Antony in 2018 (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). The filmmaker has a far-reaching fan base for his hits like Dookudu, Dhee, Ready, Dubai Seenu and Venky and many are rooting for him to return with a bang. Viswam is equally crucial for Gopichand, who needs a hit.
Viswam is expected to hit screens in the second half of 2024. The details of the other actors working on the film and the release date will be out shortly. Gopichand, beyond Viswam, is also filming for Kannada director A Harsha’s cop saga Bhimaa, which stars Malvika Sharma and Priya Bhavani Shankar and is produced by KK Radhamohan.
