American rapper 9th Wonder is bringing an animated version of the iconic ‘70s sitcom - Good Times - after four long decades. The Grammy-winning musician has worked as a music supervisor for the animated version. Carl Jones and Ranada Shepard together have created the series - Good Times. Norman Lear, Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, Brent Millar, Erick Peyton, Brent Miller and Stephen Curry have worked as executive producers.
The animated series, Good Times, revolves around the life of the fourth generation Evans family, who lives in apartment 17C of the last remaining housing projects in Chicago. Good Times is all set to release on April 12, 2024, only on Netflix. As soon the streaming giant dropped the news, anticipation started brewing among netizens as the original sitcom was one of the most watched American shows on television.

Hence, this animated adaptation promises to capture the essence of its predecessor, while infusing it with contemporary wit and flair. Netflix has already teased fans with 2 pictures from the animated version. The pictures showcase a black family that includes, parents and 3 children enjoying their daily lives in their home.
The animated project was first announced in 2020 by Netflix. Good Times tells the story of James and Florida Evans, struggling to raise their 3 children due to poverty. James has to often work at least 2 jobs, mostly manual labour such as dishwasher and construction labourer. Though he is often unemployed, he is a proud man who will not accept charity. He sometimes earns money by playing pool, and his wife Florida highly disapproves of this.
Good Times sitcom was a spin-off of Maude (1972-1978), another American sitcom, which in itself is a spin-off of the American sitcom - All in the Family (1971-1979).
