The Archangel Gabriel is set to grace Earth with his heavenly presence yet again. Jon Hamm will reprise his role as the snarky angelic leader on the second season of the fantasy comedy, Good Omens.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Mad Men star will be joined by returning star Doon Mackichan, who plays archangel Michael.
New cast members include Gloria Obianyo, Liz Carr and Quelin Sepulveda who will all play new angels who are a part of Gabriel’s posse.
Series creator and author Neil Gaiman expressed his elation at the announcement, talking about how the show ‘would not be the same’ without Hamm. The writer also welcomed the new additions to the show’s cast, calling them a part of the ‘strange’ yet much loved family of Good Omens.
The series is based on the 1990 novel of the same name, written by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It follows the story of Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and a demon, who team up together to stop a child destined to be the antichrist, and thwart the coming of an apocalyptic battle between Heaven and Hell, which will destroy humanity. The series stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley, respectively.
The upcoming season’s story will go beyond the original novel, and will take a closer look at the friendship between the angel and demon.
Good Omens Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video, although a release date for the same is yet to be announced. The show’s first season is available to stream on the platform.
