RRR fans and moviegoers, in general, are over the moon right now following the spectacular win at the 80th Golden Globes. The film's cult hit Naatu Naatu bagged the Best Original Song award and to make things all the more special, the core team of RRR, including director S.S. Rajamouli and lead actors Jr. NTR & Ram Charan, was present at the ceremony to jubilantly celebrate composer M.M. Keeravani & Co's special achievement.
However, while RRR and Naatu Naatu continue to remain trending items on social media, superstars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan's rather interesting accent has now grabbed the attention of netizens. On one hand, social media is gushing over how suave and dapper the two looked but on the other, a prominent section of their followers has grown slightly puzzled over the sudden emergence of an American accent in their speeches! Their ardent fans have jumped to their defence, sure, but one can't deny the very stark and apparent Hollywood(y) accent when they spoke to the American media.
Terms like 'cringe', 'artificial' and 'unnecessary' came up in the comments section with even the most dedicated of NTR and Ram Charan fans conceding that, quite indeed, something seemed slightly off about the way they spoke. While Jr. NTR was pulled for quite literally rolling his RRRs, Ram Charan too didn't fare well at the hands of the Twitterati.
"Even ramcharan is coping up with American accent," said one user about the RC15 actor while most others couldn't help but highlight the sudden shift in his tone.
In fact, Jr. NTR's accent had become fodder to meme-makers well ahead of the Golden Globes Red Carpet ceremony. The actor, along with his director S.S. Rajamouli, spoke to the American media a few hours before the Golden Globes got rolling and there, too, his accent boasted a stark American touch.
Well, it is certain that nothing skips the netizens and you could be the biggest superstar, revelling in the glory of your biggest night but one tiny lapse is all it takes for the world to take notice and pull you up.
On the other hand, team RRR has been buoyed by the stunning Golden Globe victory and looks in a great position to reap similar, if not better, rewards at the Oscars. While S.S. Rajamouli and the two lead actors missed out on nominations at the Golden Globes, the trio stands a great chance at the upcoming Academy Awards, whose nominations will be out January 24th. Fingers crossed!
