Karunada Chakravarthy Shivarajkumar was in Mumbai a few days ago along with the team of his upcoming film Ghost, including director MG Srinivas, producer Sandesh Nagaraj and co-stars Jayaram and Archana Jois. During one of their promotional interviews, the actors and Srinivas were asked about a film of theirs that they’d like to see remade in Bollywood and which actor they’d want in it. The question was first posed to Jayaram, who said that it would be his upcoming Christmas release Abraham Ozler and that he himself would want to reprise the role as it is one of the most outstanding characters he’s got in a while.
When the question then came to Shivarajkumar, who has done over 125 films, many of which have inspired Bollywood versions, including Swadesh from Chigurida Kanasu, he called out one of his recent hits. Shivarajkumar said he would want to see the Duniya Suri directed Tagaru remade in Hindi with none other than Tiger Shroff taking on his role. Tagaru was big hit and had Shivarajkumar in the role of an ACP on a killing spree, getting rid off several dangerous gangsters. The film was a major career boost for Dhananjaya, who played the chief antagonist Daali, a moniker that stuck. The film’s music by Charan Raj was a big hit, especially the title track and Shivarajkumar’s hook step.
Ghost, meanwhile, is Shivarajkumar’s first collaboration with Srinivas and is an action heist thriller. Censored U/A, the 2 hour and 7 minute film is releasing amid heavy competition from big-ticket movies like Leo, Bhagavanth Kesari, Tiger Nageswara Rao and Ganpath, among others. Also starring Anupam Kher in a pivotal role, the film follows a heist at a prison, where a hostage situation also evolves. Ghost has Shivarajkumar in three distinctive avatars and boasts music by Arjun Janya, while Mahen Simha is the cinematographer. The film releases in theatres on October 19.
