MG Srinivas has spoken on multiple occasions that his latest film Ghost is only the entry point to a larger cinematic universe that he is in pursuit of. While Ghost introduces to the high-stakes world that he has created, the film ends with several loose ends which shall potentially be tied up in the subsequent instalments, especially Ghost 2.
Without giving away much, Ghost concludes at a solid 'build-up' point to warrant a sequel and one can expect newer and more exciting characters to be part of the film. One key area of intrigue is how Shiva Rajkumar and Co. pull off the heist with such great finesse and alongside, the backstory of 'Big Daddy' Dalavai, too, remains in the dark. Turns out, MG Srinivas has a definite plan to round everything up and he will use Ghost 2 as the opportunity to resolve all the major plot points.
The writer-director took to social media a short while ago to reveal that the sequel film will address several pertinent questions including the mystery surrounding Dalavai's death, how the heist was carried out on the streets of Bengaluru through bikes and cars, how Shivanna managed to enter and hide inside the famous statue, how the tiny boats were operated and who was behind them and, of course, who is Dalavai's son whose voice is heard in the concluding moments of 'Ghost'.
"All questions will be answered in GHOST 2.0," wrote Srinivas or Srini, who himself makes a brief yet effective cameo in the film as advocate Mahesh Das, fondly known as Birbal.
His tweet would attract a lot of comments with several users expressing excitement over what's in store, with a few noting that the sequel must be rid of all shortcomings that plagued the first part. While Ghost has received a lot of love, many have felt that the film would have turned out better had the writing focused more on the plot at hand and less on the hero elevation sequences. Regardless, it is charming to see audience members participating in a healthy discussion about a film's merits.
Ghost also stars Jayaram, Archana Jois, Prashant Narayanan, Anupam Kher and also a de-aged Shiva Rajkumar. It would be interesting to see in what capacity the said de-aged character would feature in Ghost 2, considering that the process of de-ageing requires an expensive form of technology to be employed. `
