Ghoomer trailer launch: Abhishek Bachchan coaches Saiyami Kher as she bowls her way to glory

There have been many films in Bollywood which have been made on sports, esp. cricket. Films like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Awwal Number’, ‘Iqbal’, ‘M S Dhoni: The Untold Story’ and many more stand as testimonies to the fact that how much Bollywood is in love with the game of cricket. Today, the trailer of ‘Ghoomer’ got launched amidst the star cast of the film. If you think that this film is ‘yet another film’ which has been made on cricket, the trailer clarifies that most obvious doubt.

The film ‘Ghoomer’s trailer has Abhishek Bachchan going in a flashback mode and cites the difference between teh game that life plays between magic and tragic. He recallis the incidents that led him to meet the character of Saiyami Kher, who loses her right hand due to an accident. That's why the character of Saiyami Kher, will be seen in the role of a para-athlete in the film. Abhishek Bachchan, then, makes her rise like a phoenix, by playing the role of her coach who encourages her to defy all odds and challenges in order to emerge a winner. The film’s trailer, which got launched today, is definitely nothing less than inspirational. It showcases the journey of Saiyami Kher’s character in the film from the land of obstacles to the paradise of success, with hard work, motivation and able guidance by Abhishek Bachchan’s character acting as the key factors. A few days ago, Abhishek Bachchan had taken to social media and shared the first-look video featuring him as well as Saiyami Kher. While the said video showed him sporting a rugged look as the coach, Saiyami’s character was seen as a specially-abled bowler. The said video gave the audience a glimpse that she is one of the best cricketers in tow.

Readers may note that, the trailer of ‘Ghoomer’ had got shifted to August 4 as a mark of respect to the late art director Nitin Desai. Abhishek Bachchan announced the same on social media by stating, ‘As a mark of respect to our beloved Nitin Desai, we the team of Ghoomer, have decided to postpone our trailer release function which was to be held tomorrow in Mumbai. We will release it day after on the 4th of August’.

As for ‘Ghoomer’, besides Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, it also stars Angad Bedi and the veteran actor Shabana Azmi in important roles. The film ‘Ghoomer’ will be premiering at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) on August 12, 2023, ahead of its theatrical release, which is on August 18 this year. The film has been directed by the prolific film maker R. Balki.
