Actors Suresh Gopi and Biju Menon - who have previously worked together in popular films such as FIR, Pathram and Randam Bhavam - have now teamed up for a legal drama film Garudan, directed by newcomer Arun Varma. Although there has been no official announcement about its release yet, reports suggest that the movie will hit the theatres on November 3. Suresh, who is also a politician, has recently completed his talkie portions for the film. The script of Garudan is written by Midhun Manuel Thomas, who is known for his work in Aadu and Anjaam Pathiraa.
Garudan’s cast and crew
During an interview with Kochi Times, the director said that the upcoming movie is a legal thriller, featuring Suresh as a police officer and Biju as a college professor. Arun explained that the film’s title, Garudan (meaning eagle), is fitting because it represents the bird’s keen vision, enabling it to catch its prey from a distance. He mentioned a type of eagle that sheds its beak and claws, hibernates and emerges rejuvenated - a metaphor for the characters in the film.
The cast also includes Thalaivasal Vijay, Jagadish, Dileesh Pothan, Major Ravi, Nishant Sagar, Ranjini and Malavika. Meanwhile, Abhirami and Divya Pillai will play the two female leads in the film, which is produced by Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames. The movie has Ajay David Kachappilly as the cinematographer, with Jakes Bejoy composing its music.
What makes Garudan a highly anticipated release
There is a lot of excitement around this upcoming film, because it marks the reunion of Suresh and Biju, who have previously delivered powerful performances together. The two actors were last seen together in Joshiy’s Christian Brothers, which featured Mohanlal and Dileep in pivotal roles.

Another noteworthy aspect of Garudan is its screenwriter, Midhun, who has created a unique narrative style in Malayalam cinema through his investigative thriller, Anjaam Pathiraa. Although it had a few flaws, the movie was praised for its thrilling scenes and Midhun’s writing.
