Gargi, which was released a couple of weeks ago, marked Sai Pallavi's return to Tamil cinema after a three-year hiatus. The film directed by Gautham Ramachandran garnered the attention of movie buffs ever since its first look poster was released.
A BTS video which the makers released later featuring Pallavi seen dubbing for the movie in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada impressed film lovers. After a few weeks, Suriya's production house 2D Entertainment acquired its theatrical release. Its gripping trailer and actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin's word of praise for the movie before its theatrical release escalated the hype surrounding it further.
What's Gargi about?
The film revolves around a school teacher who is gearing up for her marriage. One day, her father goes missing. Upon filing a complaint in a nearby police station, she gets the shock of her life when she is told that her father has been booked in rape case.
The teacher and her family face humiliation in the society after which she seeks the support of an inexperienced lawyer to prove the innocence of her father. She continues to fight for her father despite several odds, but little did she know that she has more surprises in store.
When and where to watch Gargi online?
The hard-hitting family drama is dropping on SonyLIV on August 12. Though there was speculation regarding the film's digital premiere earlier, the OTT platform has now confirmed it officially through its social media handle. Sai Pallavi's performance, riveting screenplay and extraordinary twists and turns are a few aspects which stood out in the movie.
RS Shivaji, Kaali Venkat, Saravanan and Livingston among a few others, too, came up with impressive performances. Govind Vasantha's background score is another aspect which received appreciation from critics and film lovers.
