Garadi trailer: Yashas Soorya takes an underdog tale to the wrestling ring

This Deepavali, Kannada filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat presents his latest film, Garadi, which, as the name suggests, is about the traditional form of wrestling. The film, produced by actor-politico BC Patil, has him in a pivotal role, while his son-in-law, Sujay Belur is the antagonist to Yashas Soorya’s leading man. Set to be in theatres on November 10, the trailer of the film was released a little while ago by Challenging Star Darshan at a public event in Ranibennur.

In the trailer, Yashas is seen as Soori, who grows up around a traditional wrestling house run by coach Rangappa (BC Patil), but is not a student. Yet circumstances push him into challenging Rangappa’s student Junior Raane (Sujay) in a championship. Can the underdog overcome his adverse circumstances and emerge victorious after all? That’s the crux of the film, which also stars P Ravishankar and Sonal Monteiro, while Challenging Star Darshan will be seen in a pivotal cameo. Nishvika Naidu fills in with a special number.

Garadi is Yashas’ big break as a leading man, an opportunity that he says he is eternally indebted to Darshan for. When the actor’s casting as a wrestler was announced, netizens reckoned that the actor did not fir the part. Yashas, though, then worked extensively on his physique to get into shape to play a wrestler. The film was shot majorly across locations in north Karnataka. In theatres for Deepavali, Garadi faces a tough challenge from Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, which will also feature Shah Rukh Khan in a pivotal cameo. As of now, no other Kannada film has been announced for the festive week.

Meanwhile, director Yogaraj Bhat, whose last release was Gaalipata 2, is also giving finishing touches to his film with Shivarajkumar and Prabhudeva, namely Karataka Dhamanaka.
