Kantara is among the top 10 most Googled films in India in the year 2022. The film has gone almost neck to neck with the likes of RRR, KGF 2, The Kashmir Files, and Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva and is also most certainly part of the audience's picks as far as the best films of the year are concerned. From superstars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Hrithik Roshan heaping praises to the stellar box office exploits, Kantara has proven to be one of the most favoured and loved cinematic experiences of recent times.

But which 2022 film did Rishab Shetty, the main creative force behind Kantara, love the most? The actor-director recently caught up with the team at Netflix for a freewheeling conversation to promote the OTT debut of the Hindi version of Kantara. In his quintessential candour, Rishab spoke about various aspects of the success of his film, such as his interactions with the legends Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, and in the same vein, also spoke about his favourite films of the year - unsurprisingly, one of his picks was an emotional one that concerned the much beloved Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar.

"My favourite Indian film of the year would be Gandhada Gudi, a documentary film featuring Puneeth Rajkumar. I loved it because I was able to emotionally connect to it - since I was going see him for the last time on screen, it was an emotional moment for me," said Rishab Shetty.

But that is not all. The Kantara maker would go on to name a few more from his year's favourites and turns out that aside from Gandhada Gudi, he also loved a very successful Tamil rom-com and another emotional film that stars his close friend Rakshit Shetty.

"Recently, a Tamil came out called Love Today - that was a very good movie. There are many Kannada films too and 777 Charlie is my favourite film of the lot. But if I select Charlie, people would start saying that I did so because it's my friend's film - but Charlie was a very emotional film, one of the best films of the year. And definitely, I must say that it all started with KGF 2 for our Kannada Film Industry," added Rishab in the interview.

Having grossed over Rs. 400 crores at the box office, Kantara is now available to stream on OTT with the Hindi version hosted by Netflix and the remaining four versions (Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam) by Amazon Prime Video.
