Gadar: Ek Prem Katha box office collection: Re-release of Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel’s film gets heartening response, raises expectations for Gadar 2

The 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the key roles, is still considered an iconic film. In the movie, which is set in 1947 during the partition of India, Sunny Deol portrayed Tara, a truck driver, while Ameesha portrayed Sakina. 

As we all know that the makers of the film are all set to release Gadar 2 soon. The film will feature Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma in the key roles. Gadar was meanwhile released in theatres once again in preparation for the release of Gadar 2. On June 9, the movie received a 4K restoration and Dolby Atmos soundtrack. 

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, over the course of its second weekend, earned Rs 1.30 crores net. The movie made a decent Rs 30 lakhs on opening weekend, but during the weekend it increased and earned Rs 45 lakhs and Rs 55 lakhs on the second and third days, respectively. Due to the positive reception the movie received after its very limited release, the number of showings grew during the weekend. 

The box office results for a movie that is 22 years old and widely accessible are extremely positive. These figures demonstrate that Gadar 2 is anticipated with full positivity.

Over the years, Gadar has developed a cult following. On August 11th, 2023, Gadar 2: The Katha Continues is scheduled to release in theatres all around the world. The film will have a competition with Akshay Kumar's OMG 2, and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. In the same weekend, two significant regional films, Jailer and Bhol Shankar, will also be released.
