After having made his debut in Bollywood with ‘Sadiyaan’, actor Luv Sinha got his foothold in Bollywood. Despite being the son of the illustrious actor Shatrughan Sinha, Luv Sinha takes immense pride in achieving things on his own merit. The actor is now super excited with the release of his film ‘Gadar 2’.

The actor joins OTTplay in an exclusive conversation wherein he talks about his humble beginnings, his role in ‘Gadar 2’ and what ‘role’ does films like ‘Gadar’ and ‘Padmavat’ play in his life.

To begin with, what’s your present state of mind now that the most awaited film ‘Gadar 2’ is released?
In regards to the film’s release, all of us who are involved with the film have been quite positive and quite confident about the film. The market response has been really great. I have been asking people from the industry. When I say people, I don't mean just like producers and directors. They are also the distributors and members from the exhibition fraternity. They are also excited. I think this film will help a lot of single screen owners who have been waiting for a film which will bring a lot of audiences back to their theatres. I think, definitely, the film is going to be good for everyone involved with it. Even though mine is a guest appearance, I am happy to be part of the film.

How did the offer of ‘Gadar 2’ come about?
I actually reach out to directors all the time for work. I reached out to Anil Sharma sir as well. Post that, we had a meeting. I think, when I was talking to them, I believe he was gauging me at that time as to where would I would fit into (the film). And since he was aware of my previous work, whatever little I have done, I think that also helped in some ways. It was clear that, at least they knew that I won't come on set and then, be unable to speak Hindi! (laughs).

How many times have you seen ‘Gadar’?
I believe I have seen ‘Gadar’ almost four times, the most recent being now. And when the makers had a screening recently, I was like ‘I have seen it before already, multiple times’. But the funny part is, when I went for the screening recently, I sat through the entire film again, because it just holds you totally. Even though it's a film that's 22 years old, the flow of the film, still gets connected the audience.

By any chance, did you ever manifest being a part of ‘Gadar’ while you were watching the original film?
Every actor would want to be a part of a films like ‘Gadar’ and ‘Padmavat’. In my case, all I do is I just keep on thinking of being a part of good films and I am grateful for every opportunity. So, I can't say that I've manifested this way. I'm definitely happy that I got to work with Anil sir. And I would want to work with him again also.

How has been your characterisation in in ‘Gadar 2’?
For those who have not seen the film so far, my character's name is Fareed. As I said, it’s a guest appearance. My character is that of a well-educated guy who has been abroad where he studied. That's his whole look and feel. He dresses up in desi clothes as well as western clothes. For further details, I would want everyone to go watch the film. (smiles).

After Sadiyaan and Paltan, many of your fans did expect a lot from you. What happened?
I don’t know about ‘Sadiyaan’, but, with ‘Paltan’ yes.

So… what went wrong?
Nothing went wrong. It is all about different factors. I was supposed to start another project, and then the pandemic hit. I think it is bad timing in some cases. Industry functions on perception, right? Some actors who may not even know how to act, but they will still continue to get work because the perception about them. So, it's all about perception. And I think all it takes is one Friday to change that perception. That’s why I feel that ‘Gadar 2’ is the right step in the right direction.

Now that ‘Gadar 2’ is released, what’s next in your plate?
I have done a web series called ‘Gangster’ and, besides this, I am also in talks to other producers. As for ‘Gangster’, this is the first time, me and my father Shatrughan Sinha are sharing the screen space.

That’s cool! Which OTT platform will this be on?
The producers are actually in talks with some major platforms.

Any dream role of yours?
Actually, its my father’s role in ‘Vishwanath’. If the film ever be remade it will be a disaster. It has to be adapted.
