April is a big month for Kannada movie fans, what with the much-awaited theatrical release of Rocking Star Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. But from the looks of it, the OTT space is looking just as exciting, with as many as five confirmed releases until April 14. Let’s look them up in order of release date

Varada – streaming on SunNXT from April 1

Vinod Prabhakar’s action entertainer is a story of a strained father-son relationship and looks at how they solve their issues. Also starring veteran actor Charan Raj and Amitha Ranganath, the film was directed by Uday Prakash.

Sakath – streaming on Netflix and SunNXT from April 4

Golden Star Ganesh’s second film with director Suni, this comedy thriller was a November release and comes on OTT almost five months later. The film, which brought Surbhi to Kannada cinema, also stars Nishvika Naidu in the lead.

Old Monk – streaming on Amazon Prime Video from April 5

Actor-director MG Srinivas’ latest romantic comedy, Old Monk, pairs him with his Ranganayaki co-star Aditi Prabhudeva. The film also stars Sujay Shastry and Sudev Nair in pivotal roles.

Ek Love Ya – streaming on Zee5 from April 8

Director Prem’s latest was the launch vehicle for his brother-in-law Raanna (Rakshitha’s brother). The film also introduced Reeshma Nanaiah to Kannada cinema. Rachita Ram was also a part of the film.

James – streaming on SonyLiv from April 14

The late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s last commercial film, directed by Chethan Kumar, released in theatres on the actor’s birthday on March 17 to a stupendous opening. James, which has transcended from being just a commercial film to an emotion, owing to the outpouring of love from fans who want to see Puneeth one last onscreen.
