Demon Slayer has been a journey filled with some brilliant moments. Right from Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro and Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa showing us their skills in the very first episode, to Kamado Tanjiro reuniting with Giyu Tomioka in the second episode and training with Tengen Uzui in the third, there were a lot of highs throughout the series so far. However, the makers had saved the best for the recently released episode. It has various moments to justify the title of the episode – It Makes You Smile. Here’s revisiting those moments (as they take place in the episode), filled with action and emotions…

Muichiro Tokito’s transformation on seeing Tanjiro

Tokito is training his subordinates. He has gone back to being his cold self. The Mist Hashira shows no mercy, and everyone is tired. That is when Tanjiro joins him. Tokito, all serious while training his army, has a child-like demeanour on seeing Tanjiro. His soft side goes on to show what he really is. This is further explored in the episode, when Tokito confesses that he is being strict only for his subordinates to not die at the battlefield. Everybody understands him better, as the episode progresses, and you start falling in love with Tokito for who he is, slightly more each time.

Kanamori will stay with Tokito

Kanamori, from the Swordsmith Village Arc, has decided to stay back on Tokito and Ubuyashiki’s request. He is one of the adorable characters in the episode. Kanamori is the link between Tanjiro and Tokito (more on it later). He plays an important part in bringing the duo together, closer than ever before.

Tokito trains with Iguro-Shinazugawa

This is something you probably did not see coming, but is the highest point of the episode. Muichiro Tokito trains with Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro and Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa. Iguro and Shinazugawa are already fierce and capable among themselves. One look at them and you know that these two are at another level. But Tokito comes and beats them both. Shinazugawa stating that he might be brutally injured if he didn’t take precautions proves exactly that. The fight scene, with clashing yellow, purple and green lights, literally creates fireworks on screen. You can only witness this visual spectacle to know what it means.

Tanjiro-Tokito’s competition

Back when he was bonding with Giyu Tomioka, Tanjiro suggested soba eating competition. This time too, he is in competition with Tokito, but over plane-flying. Kanamori played an important role in that, for he suggested that plane-flying is Tokito’s hobby and he excels at it. Tanjiro being himself couldn’t resist. He tried to strike a deal with Tokito, to be slightly sweeter with the associates, and failed miserably. Just as he failed, it was the sweetest win. Every person in the campus joined in the competition and it was unity at best. Seeing the very scene, Tokito couldn’t help himself and made sure everyone around him succeeds along with him (which was always his end goal). The scene where all the paper planes fly high up in the air at once, is a spectacle you might regret missing.

Sakonji Urokodaki’s comeback

Retired Water Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki is back. This paves the way for something big. It is literally the past (Urokodaki), present (Tomioka) and future (Tanjiro) under one roof. Urokodaki is taking care of Tanjiro’s sister, Nezuko. He has the most important role for the half-demon is Muzan Kibusuji’s target. Muzan wants to devour Nezuko to become immortal (live forever, even under the sun) in order to change the world as per his whims and fancies. Urokodaki has to protect Nezuko and the future of the world, which means his skills will be shown in the upcoming episodes. It also means that all the Hashiras ever will gather for the biggest fight and leave us with some of the most memorable moments even ahead.
