On Monday night, in Los Angeles, during the 75th annual Emmy Awards, stars from a wide range of hit television series made surprise reunions, including those from Martin, The Sopranos, and many more.
Iconic TV series settings host cast reunions
Stars from American Horror Story, Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones, and Ally McBeal reunited, as previously revealed. Replicas of the famous settings from these series, such as Dr. Melfi's office from The Sopranos, hosted the reunions.
Nominees for the Emmys in 2023 were among those who reunited with the cast. Lorraine Bracco of The Sopranos and Michael Imperioli, who received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor, Drama Series this year, starred in season two of The White Lotus. The recent 25th anniversary of the Sopranos was also hinted at during the reunion.
Martin cast reassembles in nostalgic living room set
Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Carl Anthony Payne II, and Tichina Arnold were among the cast members that reassembled later that night in a reconstruction of the show's living room set. A reconstructed pub featuring Kelsey Grammer, Rhea Perlman, Ted Danson, John Ratzenberger, and George Wendt, all cast members of the groundbreaking sitcom Cheers, presented the writing and directing for a comedy series.
Amy Poehler, who was nominated for Outstanding Host, Reality, or Competitive Programme for Baking It, and Tina Fey, a veteran of Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, were also in attendance.
Honoring 75 years of television with nostalgic tributes
Jeannae Rouzan-Clay, executive producer of the Emmy Awards, said in an interview with Variety that some of the most watched series of the last 75 years will be honoured in these tributes. Determining how to commemorate 75 years of television was a monumental undertaking. They would consider it a good act if we could restore a sense of nostalgia to that stage.
