As many as five Telugu films are gearing up to entertain audiences this weekend. From Suma's big-screen comeback to RGV's lesbian crime drama and Sree Vishnu's actioner, there's ample variety for you to choose from. Take a look at the films you wouldn't want to miss out on, at the theatres and OTTs.

Jayamma Panchayathi

Small-screen host Suma, in her comeback film, is cast as a simple yet headstrong village woman, whose world revolves around her family. When her loved ones face a problem, it creates a conflict between her and a few elderly men in the village. The film that also stars Devi Prasad, Dinesh Kumar and Shalini, has story, screenplay, dialogues and direction by first-time filmmaker Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu. It is produced by Balaga Prakash under Vennela Creations.

Maa Ishtam

The film is a crime drama directed by Ram Gopal Varma, which intends to tell love has no barriers and suggests that the LGBTQ community needn't always be projected in a sympathetic light. The story revolves around a couple, whose relationship invites a lot of trouble into their lives and they suddenly find themselves amidst a crime scene. With a mishmash of romance, crime and action, Maa Ishtam is a rare Telugu film centred on a lesbian couple. Tummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana is backing the Telugu version.

Bhala Thandanana

Sree Vishnu is cast as a supposedly innocent man who's caught in the middle of a hawala money scam in the story, while Catherine Tresa is cast as an investigative journalist. The film is directed by Chaitanya Dantuluri. Rajani Korrapati is bankrolling the film under Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram while Sai Korrapati is the presenter. Mani Sharma has composed the music. Garuda Raam and Satya play crucial roles too.

Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam

Starring Vishwak Sen, Rukshar Dhillon in the lead, the story revolves around Arjun Kumar Allam, a 34-year-old bachelor, who is constantly pestered by near and dear around him to get unmarried. Does he have a happy ending in store? How does he moves past the tricky phase in life? Directed by Vidya Sagar Chinta, produced by Sudheer Edara and Bapineedu B, written by Ravi Kiran Kola and the music is by Jay Krish.

Dongata

The Telugu dubbed version of Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum revolves around a newly married couple, Prasad and Sreeja are travelling in a bus when a thief tries to steal the latter's chain. Along with the chain snatcher, they end up in a police station as part of the case. Stars, Fahadh Faasil, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Nimisha Sajayan. Directed by Dileesh Pothan and written by Sajeev Pazhoor, the film has music by Bijibal.
