Aha Tamil 2024 releases - From Hot Spot to Romeo

We are in mid-May and the summer is here to stay. This warrants us to stay at home, eat something cool and watch movies from the comforts of our home. Aha Tamil provides four Tamil films that have been released so far in 2024, ranging from a period rural comedy to a hyperlink social drama. Here are the four films you can watch on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium right now.

Hot Spot

Hot Spot is a social drama written and directed by filmmaker Vignesh Karthick. The film stars Kalaiyarasan, Janani, Sandy, Ammu Abhirami, Subash, Gouri Kishan, and Aditya Bhaskar, among others. The film is divided into four segments that deal with sensitive and controversial topics as perceived by society. From talking about incest and the impact of reality shows on children to patriarchy and patriarchal notions on sex, Hot Spot received mixed reviews upon its release.

Romeo

Romeo stars Vijay Antony and Mirnalini Ravi in the lead roles and is a romantic drama written by Vinayak Vaithianathan. The film is about a newly married couple, where the wife does not like the husband and wants to pursue a career in the film industry as an actor. The rest of the film is about how a couple navigates through their differences. Romeo also stars actors Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Ilavarasu, Thalaivasal Vijay, Sudha, and others as supporting characters in the film. During the time of its release, Romeo was noted for drawing parallels between films like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Kaavalan.

Vadakkupatti Ramasamy

Directed by Karthik Yogi, Vadakkupatti Ramasamy is a recent Tamil film starring Santhanam in the lead role. In the period drama, Santhanam plays the titular role, who is an atheist. Set against a rural backdrop, it is about how the character reaps the benefit of the god-fearing population in his village by building a temple and extracting money from it. The film also features a cast including actors Megha Akash, Nizhalgal Ravi, MS Bhaskar, Maaran, Tamil, Naan Kadavul Rajendran, John Vijay, Ravi Mariya, late Seshu, Suresh, and Prashanth, among others.

Ranam Aram Thavarel

In Ranam Aram Thavarel, actor Vaibhav plays Shiva, a facial reconstruction artist and crime writer who is trusted by police officials to solve crimes. The film also features Tanya Hope and Nandita Swetha in the lead roles. The crime thriller is written and directed by Sherief. Also starring Saras Menon, Suresh Chakravarthi, Pathaman and others, Ranam Aram Thavarel follows the efforts of the police force and Shiva to crack the murder case and apprehend the criminal.
