On November 19, SonyLIV shared a new promo of Freedom At Midnight. In the clip, we can see Rajendra Chawla aka Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel telling Jawaharlal Nehru (Sidhant Gupta) that they can create a government on their own. However, they face issues as they were asked to invite Mohammad Ali Jinnah (Arif Zakaria). To know their next move, you need to watch the series on SonyLIV (OTTPlay Premium).
Take a look:
The historical show is inspired by the book Freedom At Midnight, written by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre. The series covers the details of the last year of the British Raj including the appointment of Lord Mountbatten of Burma as the last viceroy of British India, the death and funeral of Mahatma Gandhi, important events surrounding India's independence in 1947, including the religious and socio-political dynamics of the era.
In an exclusive conversation with OTTPlay, Sidhant Gupta revealed if it was challenging for him to play Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in Nikkhil Advani's Freedom at Midnight.
"There's nothing easy or tough when you are obsessed about something. I was really obsessed about him (Pandit Nehru) when I was playing his role," he added.
The cast of the series features Sidhant Gupta as Jawaharlal Nehru, Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, and Rajendra Chawla as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
On the other hand, Arif Zakaria as Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Ira Dubey as Fatima Jinnah, Malishka Mendonsa as Sarojini Naidu, Rajesh Kumar as Liaquat Ali Khan, KC Shankar as VP Menon, Luke McGibney as Lord Louis Mountbatten, Cordelia Bugeja as Lady Edwina Mountbatten, Alistair Finlay as Archibald Wavell, Andrew Cullum as Clement Attlee, and Richard Teverson as Cyril Radcliffe won hearts.
Meanwhile, Freedom At Midnight was released on November 15, 2024 on SonyLIV. You can also watch through OTTplay Premium. The series is available in eight languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and English.
