Nikkhil Advani has been meticulously filming his upcoming web series, Freedom at Midnight. The film based on India's 1947 partition will soon stream on SonyLIV, and the makers have dropped the first look poster. The poster features the leading actors, including Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, Sidhant Gupta as Jawaharlal Nehru, Arif Zakaria as Mohammed Ali Jinnah, and Rajendra Chawla as Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

Nikkhil Advani's insights on the series

While sharing the poster, Advani gave a glimpse into what to expect from Freedom at Midnight. He wrote that Jinnah was steadfast, and Gandhi and his Congress sought unity. Irreparable division doomed the subcontinent despite the Mahatma's lofty aspirations for oneness.

Historical drama based on acclaimed book

The political drama, which is based on a 1975 non-fiction book by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, explores the Indian independence struggle and the crucial circumstances surrounding the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan by the British colonial rulers. It weaves together previously unrecorded stories from that era.

Emmay Entertainment's Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani produce the show with support from StudioNext and Sony LIV. Nikkhil Advani is both the showrunner and director. The show's writers are Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Ethan Taylor, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Gundeep Kaur, and Revanta Sarabhai.

Inspiration and dedication behind the project

The show, according to Advani, is the result of unwavering commitment and tireless persistence, which was the catalyst for a casual conversation about the well-known book with Danish Khan, the business head of SonyLIV and StudioNext. They have remained steadfast in their resolve to be genuine throughout this entire process. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were the brave leaders of the independence cause, and this show is a heartfelt tribute to them. Emmay Entertainment is proud to present this story that captures contemporary India, and SonyLIV, a trailblazer in presenting series that honours India's history while appealing to viewers throughout the world, is the perfect platform for it.
