Actor Trisha finds herself once again at the centre of a raging controversy in the Tamil film industry, sparked by unsavoury comments made by former AIADMK leader AV Raju . Following massive outrage across social media platforms, Raju has issued a video message, alleging that his comments were being misrepresented in the media.

Social media backlash prompts apology from the political leader

"There is wrong news being spread against me on social media. I only shared the information that I heard from another person. I also didn't make any unwarranted comments about her (Trisha). I am being portrayed wrongly in the media. To Cheran, RK Selvamani, and Trisha, I would like to apologize to you all if my words caused you pain," said Raju.

A day after being ousted from the political party, Raju held a press meeting to lash out at his colleagues. In the process, he made serious allegations against some political leaders, portraying the Tamil film industry in a negative light. He also openly mentioned Trisha, sending shockwaves across Tamil Nadu.

The reaction on social media to Raju's comments was swift and furious, with the who's who of the Tamil film fraternity rallying behind Trisha. The Ponniyin Selvan star also strongly reacted to the controversy, revealing her intention to press charges against Raju.

Trisha responds firmly to misleading comments

"It’s disgusting to repeatedly see lowlives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention. Rest assured, necessary actions will be taken. Anything that needs to be said and done henceforth will be from my legal department," Trisha said in her statement.

Trisha has garnered support from all walks of life, particularly from her colleagues in the Tamil film industry. "Go Trash them all....Disgusting MenKind!! More power to you @trishtrashers," said filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj.

"Glad she spoke up and hope he rots in jail (which may not happen) but rots otherwise," said singer Chinmayi Sripaada, who dubbed for Trisha in Leo.

"In a day and age where all of us are working hard to ensure equality in the workplace and society it breaks my heart to see a few men behave like this. Completely unacceptable. Hope serious action is taken. We stand by u @trishtrashers," said Archana Kalpathi, the producer of The Greatest Of All Time, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead.
