Flashback Friday: When 'Pathaan' Shah Rukh Khan posed with 'Jim' John Abraham at the Gladrags Manhunt 1999 finale

People who have watched Pathaan can't stop raving about watching a high-octane action film on the big screen after a very long time. The film features Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role and John Abraham as the main antagonist, Jim. Now, we've got our hands on a few photos from 1999, when John forayed into the world of modelling. We came across the finale contests of Gladrags Megamodel and Manhunt about 24 years ago.

In the photo, the winner, John, is seen posing with Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan after he won the Manhunt contest, while former Bigg Boss contestant and Shark Tank India's Anupam Mittal's wife, Anchal Kumar, became the Megamodel of that year.

In Pathaan, John is aiming at SRK's throat. After a lengthy absence of four years, SRK made his cinematic comeback, and the excitement surrounding his return has swept the country. The actor earlier said, "I don't think just the entire nation. I think the entire world wants to see Shah Rukh Khan on screen, including myself, and I think he more than delivered the goods because he's fantastic in this film."

While talking about John, Shah Rukh said, "It was really nice working with him, and I also realised he’s a gentle giant. When we were doing the action, he said, ‘You’re a national treasure, I will not hurt. I can’t.’ I said, ‘But it’s okay, you can.’ So he’s very shy, and I had to do a lot of convincing to tell him that it’s okay, you can punch me, and I won’t get hurt."

The superstar went on to say, "I think he’s proficient in action; he really helped me (guided me). Many times he would just say, ‘Shah bhai, you wanna do it like this? Don’t bend your body, just be up.’ So it was very kind of him, and I think if you are doing an action film with a co-star like John alongside you, I think there is a lot to learn, especially in this genre."

Pathaan also features Deepika Padukone in the lead role and is directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under his home banner, Yash Raj Films, and hit theatres on January 25, 2023.
