When you’re the last in a line of powerful heroes, saving the world becomes a full time job it seems. Wu Assassins, the Netflix show centred around the titular hero, is back to bring the action in the form of a standalone film called Fistful of Vengeance. The trailer for the same was released by the streaming giant recently.
The trailer follows Kai Jin as he is reeling with the loss of his friend Jenny. To find out who is responsible for his friend’s death, Kai decides to throw caution to the wind and gets himself entangled with some dangerous people, including Bangkok’s underworld queen. But Kai is not alone in his quest, as his friends refuse to leave his side, and the group makes their way across the world in search of answers. Kai also has to face off against his inner demons along the way.
Rife with explosions and non-stop action, which includes Kai’s impressive martial arts, the film promises to be just as thrilling and exciting as its predecessor.
The upcoming film will pick up the story from where the series left off. The Wu Assassins series served as the origin story of how Kai got his supernatural martial arts ability to become the last member of the titular clan and had to fulfill his destiny of beating the evil Wu Warlords.
The film sees Iko Uwais reprise his role as the protagonist. Other cast members include Lewis Tan, Lawrence Kao, JuJu Chan, Jason Tobin, Pearl Thusi, Francesca Corney, Tony Kranz, and Rhatha Phongaam. The film is directed by Roel Reiné, who had directed two episodes of the original series.
Fistful of Vengeance will be available to stream on Netflix from February 17.
