Niveditha Shivarajkumar and debutant director-actor Vamshi Krishna are finally ready to show audiences what to expect in their collaboration, Firefly, ahead of its April 24 theatrical outing. So far, they’d only had a teaser out, introducing Vamshi’s character in the film, Vicky, an award-winning Maths teacher, whose biggest struggle is with melancholy. The upcoming trailer will probably shed light on Vicky’s situation.
On April 12, the team announced that the trailer of Firefly would be released on April 13 at 11.11 am by none other than Max actor Kiccha Sudeep. “Masth trailer deserves a masth launch. Firefly trailer to be launched by Badshah Kiccha Sudeep”, wrote Niveditha in the official announcement. The film team will then address the media following the launch.
Firefly is Niveditha’s first feature film production, which comes after her tryst with making Kannada serials and web shows. The transition to movie making was not planned, and just so happened, after her discussions with Vamshi for web series content did not pan out. Knowing that she was not keen to venture into filmmaking, Vamshi told her about a subject he had, in the hope that Niveditha would refer him to someone who could back the film.
To his luck, Niveditha liked it and ran it by her parents, who were also on board with her decision to produce it under their banner, Shri Mutthu Cine Services. Initially, the plan was only for Vamshi to direct, but when their hunt for a suitable face to play a guy in his mid-20s failed, he pitched himself, which Niveditha was okay with, and that is how Firefly came to be.
The film also boasts the likes of Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Moogu Suresh, Sheetal Shetty, Rachana Inder, Sunder, Veena, Sihi Kahi Chandru, among others, with music by Charan Raj. What’s also special is that the film features a special cameo by Shivarajkumar, who was last seen in Bhairathi Ranagal , which was revealed in a theatrical teaser only.
