Lakshadweep filmmaker Aisha Sultana announced her second movie titled 124 (A). She was charged under 124 A (sedition) recently, after she raised her voice against the BJP government-appointed island administrator.
She made her debut project in 2020, which was an independant Malayalam movie titled Flush. She had also worked on the sets of the Asif-Ali starrer Kettyolaanu Ente Malaakha, as an associate director earlier.
Besides being a filmmaker, she is also an activist, who was active in the ‘Save Laksadweep campaign’, which was held against the administrative reforms announced by the central government in the island, which the protestors described as ‘anti-people’.
A case was registered against Aisha during the campaign, June this year, alleging her of calling the federal territory’s administrator a ‘bioweapon’. Later, the Kerala High Court granted her anticipatory bail in the sedition case.
124 (A) was announced by Aisha on her social media, with an intriguing poster. The poster portrays the front page of a newspaper which has reported the sedition case against her. “We fall only to rise again”, she said while announcing the movie. Popular Malayalam filmmaker Lal Jose released the poster, while Aisha made the announcement. The movie is reported to be based on true incidents, and will be produced by the director herself.

Aisha wrote a heartfelt note about her patriotism and how she is pictured as an anti-national now, with the poster. She also mentioned its her birthday and the celebrations are a bit different for her this year, as she is labelled as anti-national, unlike others.
