The film 'Fighter,' featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, made a modest debut at the box office when it was released yesterday. Despite being a non-holiday release, the opening is deemed decent, albeit falling slightly short of expectations. According to Sacnilk.com, 'Fighter' garnered approximately Rs 22 crore on its first day across all languages.
The optimistic aspect for the movie 'Fighter' is the anticipated substantial surge on Republic Day (today) owing to the holiday, coupled with positive word of mouth and enthusiastic reviews. Projections suggest the film is expected to earn Rs 35 crore on Day 2 based on advances. The movie's success will be significantly influenced by its performance over the extended weekend, particularly on Sunday. Being the first major budget film of 2024, industry experts had anticipated a more substantial opening day figure.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures, Fighter is an action-packed film featuring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor. It marks the initiation of an aerial action franchise. The narrative revolves around the collaboration of elite Indian Air Force aviators forming the formidable Air Dragons in response to an imminent threat. Fighter unfolds the tales of their camaraderie, brotherhood, and both internal and external battles.
The film incorporates references to significant events like the 2019 Pulwama attack, the 2019 Balakot airstrike, and the 2019 India–Pakistan border skirmishes. The soundtrack, composed by the duo Vishal–Shekhar, comprises five songs, while Satchith Paulose handles the cinematography.
Initially slated for a theatrical release on September 30, 2022, Fighter experienced delays in production caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately leading to its theatrical release on January 25, 2024, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend.
Actors Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Rishabh Sawhney and Sanjeeda Sheikh are also a part of the film.
