There is no way you have access to the internet and haven't been touched by the Barzakh bug by now. Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed are all set to reunite on screen after the iconic cult show Zindagi Gulzar Hai, with director Asim Abbasi making his return to the series format. The show, titled Barzakh, has been making news for a couple of years now, and it is finally confirmed for release in July 2024. But before the big day, there are steps and promotional materials in the way. Turns out the treats have begun now, as Asim Abbasi, with a special teaser, has confirmed the trailer release date of the show. Below is everything you need to know about the same.
Barzakh is set to premiere on ZeeZindagi in Pakistan and on Zee5 in India in July. The makers are now set to release the trailer on July 1, 2024, but before that, they have a teaser to announce the same. According to the video shared on Instagram and other social media handles by Asim Abbasi and team members, the teaser captures close shots of the cast members, including Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, putting surma in their eyes. While this beautiful montage of people decorating their eyes is interesting, there is a hidden meaning to it, and only the trailer will solve it.
The caption on the Barzakh teaser on Instagram shared by Asim Abbasi reads, “Eyes lined with secrets, ready to reveal the mysteries within. When all else withers, will love endure? Trailer launching on 1st July - are you ready for the journey? #Barzakh, Premieres 19th July on Zindagi YouTube and ZEE5 Shows.” The show is about a very interesting concept: a 76-year-old reclusive man who is getting married to his first true love, but she is a ghost.
Yes, you read that right. He is getting married to the ghost of his first true love and invites all his estranged children and grandchildren to his remote valley resort to celebrate the bizarre union. Asim Abbasi, who serves as the writer and director of the show, explores the themes of death, the afterlife, and the chaos of relationships and family. It unfolds in the picturesque Hunza Valley.
Barzakh also delves into themes of postpartum depression, generational trauma, mental health, and gender inclusivity. Following the classic Asim Abbasi twists, there are layers that explore culture, the mystery of human existence, and reflections on relationships and life.
Set to be a six-episode show, Barzakh will star Sanam Saeed alongside Fawad Khan. They will be joined by Salman Shahid, M Fawad Khan, Eman Suleman, Khushhal Khan, Faiza Gillani, Anika Zulfikar, and Franco Giusti, among others. Created and directed by Asim Abbasi and produced by Shailja Kejriwal and Waqas Hassan, with cinematography by Mo Azmi.
Barzakh will hit Zee5 in India on July 19, 2024, and you can watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
