Modern Love Mumbai actress Fatima Sana Shaikh will be essaying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her upcoming film, Sam Bahadur

Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh gained notoriety for her role alongside Aamir Khan in Nitesh Tiwari’s 2016 film Dangal. The duo shared screen space again in the 2018 film Thugs of Hindostan which tanked at the box office. The two were also rumoured to be in a relationship, after Aamir divorced his ex-wife Kiran Rao in 2021. The actress in a recent interview has now revealed that she is a fan of Shah Rukh Khan but feels that Aamir has produced very different kind of films.
Speaking to Humans of Cinema recently, the actress said, “I am a Shah Rukh Khan fan, but I feel Aamir Khan has given us a lot of films like Rang De Basanti, PK, Peepli Live, all of these films are so different.”
Talking about the films that have influenced her, she said Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. “I really like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. I love Shah Rukh Khan, the kind of romance…What is romance, how I would like… See a lot of our idea of romance or revenge comes from what we consume. Like somebody to be like that like somebody to look out for me like that… I don't know."
In the same interview she also revealed that American web series Breaking Bad helped her get through a bad breakup.
Fatima was last seen in Netflix’s anthology series Modern Love Mumbai in 2022. She will be seen next in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur playing the role of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film will also feature Vicky Kaushal who will be playing the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film is set to be released in December this year. She also has Anurag Basu’s anthology film, Metro.. In Dino and Tarun Dudeja’s Dhak Dhak in her kitty.
In the same interview, Fatima spoke about her Sam Bahadur co-star, Vicky saying that Vicky is the best actor of this generation. “Vicky is too good. What an actor. He is so good. After we shot together, I told him ‘It was really nice working with you,” she said.
